Dato Dr. Guna is a Plastic, Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgeon and Head of Guna Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery/Guna Laser Centre in Ipoh. He has more than 30 years experience in plastic and cosmetic surgery and was the first plastic surgeon in Ipoh.

He is a member and Past President of MAPACS (Malaysian Association of Plastic, Aesthetic & Craniomaxillofacial Surgeons) and a member of OSAPS (Oriental Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery) and also a member of the Academy of Medicine. He is a Life member of Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and a Past President of MMA Perak.

He has vast experience in cosmetic work performing double eyelids, blepharoplasties, facelifts, liposuctions, abdominoplasties, breast surgeries and nose augmentations. Dato Dr. Guna also performs non-invasive procedures such as fillers and botox injections and dermabrasions. In addition, he provides a whole range of cosmetic laser procedures and treatments.

He completed his medical degree in University Malaya and went on to obtain his Fellowship in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Dato Dr Guna worked as a general surgeon for 2 years in various parts of Malaysia before he realized his true calling. Having an artistic inclination he naturally went into plastic and cosmetic surgery.

He then went for a 2 year intensive training in plastic surgery in United Kingdom. He also attended Maxillo-Facial training course in Davos, Switzerland.

Following his training in UK, he returned to Malaysia in 1986 and subsequently qualified as a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon. He was then posted to Kuching to head the Plastic Surgery Department in Kuching Hospital and to provide plastic surgery services to both Sarawak and Sabah. He has performed a lot of cleft lip and palate repairs whilst posted there.

He left Government service to go into private practice in Ipoh in 1990 to head Guna Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery till today. He was then the pioneer plastic surgeon in Perak.

His clinic is located in Fair Park which is centrally located to all the hospitals. He works mainly with KPJ Ipoh, Fatimah Hospital, Kinta Medical Centre and Perak Community Specialist Hospital.

Dato Dr Guna has also been to plastic surgery conferences and workshops locally and overseas in Singapore, Thailand, Bali, Taiwan, China, Korea, Turkey to keep himself abreast with the latest advancements and techniques in cosmetic surgery.

Emergency and Trauma

Dato Dr. Guna still does active emergency and accident calls

for trauma and plastic surgery including burns, mainly at KPJ Ipoh and Fatimah Hospital.

Minor surgeries are done in the clinic while major ones are performed at the above hospitals.

Cosmetic Surgeries

For cosmetic work he has vast experience performing double eyelids,

blepharoplasties, facelifts, liposuctions, abdominoplasties, breast surgeries

and nose augmentations. Dato Dr. Guna also performs non- invasive

procedures such as fillers and botox injections and dermabrasions.

Most of the cosmetic surgeries are done at his clinic.

Laser Procedures and Treatments

Besides this, his cosmetic services includes a whole range of laser procedures

and treatments. He has 3 lasers – CO2 Laser, Pigment laser and Hair removal Lasers.

Dato Dr. Guna is very experienced in these laser treatments having used them for many years.

Giving back to the society

Dato Guna believes in giving back to society and has travelled to Philippines
as a member of medical missions to perform cleft lip and palate repairs.
